Bruce A. Benham joined the RE/MAX organization in 1992 as Director of Information Services and was promoted to Vice President of Information Technology in 1993, was made Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer in 1999 and was named Chief Operating Officer in July 2004. Benham oversees the following operating divisions: Brand Marketing and Event Management; Human Resources; Information Technology and eBusiness; Membership Services; and Media and Training.
Previous to joining RE/MAX, Benham was Vice President MIS/Business Support Services for VICORP Restaurants (Village Inn Corporation) in Denver, Colorado, where he was responsible for developing a revolutionary hardware and software information system for the company and its 425 restaurants. He also served as Director of Information Systems Consulting for Coopers and Lybrand, as Manager-Data Processing Quality Assurance for CitiBank Diners Club, and as District Manager- Computer Operations at Mountain Bell.
Benham was the first officer in charge of establishing the RE/MAX Satellite Television Network (RSN) in 1994. RSN is the first real estate satellite television system and under Benham’s guidance, a training and communications network was established for participating franchised offices and affiliates. Weekday broadcasts provide advanced as well as certified continuing education and training directly to participating offices and licensed agents. Many of the programs are live and “interactive” with the viewing audience contributing and participating by telephone.
In August of 2001, Benham received the “CIO of the Year Award” from the Center for Information Technology Innovation (CITI), a center at the business school of the University of Colorado at Denver. It was the first year for the award. In 2004, he received the RE/MAX International Distinguished Service Award, the most prestigious recognition in the organization. He also serves as a member and officer of the board of directors for the Denver affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Benham earned a Certified Computing Professional designation in 1997 and has participated in extensive advanced technical, managerial and leadership training programs. He earned a Bachelor of University Studies (B.U.S) degree from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1973.
He is an avid golfer, as is his wife Deb, who has been a highly successful RE/MAX agent since 1989. She is currently a partner in the Benham Group with their two sons, Brooks, a RE/MAX agent since 1999 and Bryan, who served in several positions at RE/MAX International before joining the Benham Group in 2004. The Benhams are truly a RE/MAX family.
